A Fever - It's All In Your Head

We know that fevers can go hand-in-hand with most flu and cold bugs, but do we really know what's going on when it happens?  Fevers are such a common ailment we may almost take them for granted; we take our temperatures, it reads high, so we pop something for it and go on feeling miserable.  However, there is some serious stuff going on with our entire body when we have a fever.  Check it out at http://gingerhillcreations.com/thermee/;

Our Brain Knows

In all of our brains there's a gauge that reads our core temperature, it's called, the hypothalamus.  Our hypothalamus knows what our temperatures should be and sends a message to the rest of the body to keep it that way - pretty handy, huh?  Most of us run a normal temperature of around 98.5 F (37 C) - of course some individuals can be lower or higher.  However, when germs invade our system, they can trigger other chemicals to flow in our body. Once these chemicals hit our brain, it triggers the hypothalamus into action.

Fighting Back

In order to help our bodies fight the bacteria of a cold or flu, the hypothalamus raises our core temperature (a fever).  Scientists believe that when our bodies heat up, it makes it a less favourable environment for germs to live in.  Plus, it also lets us know that our bloodstream has been invaded by an unfriendly source.  As our bodies heat up to the new temperature the hypothalamus has set (a fever), we may begin to feel cold and start to shiver - this speeds up the process as shivering causes heat. Once our body regulates to the higher temperature we stop shivering and won't feel cold anymore.

Taking Our Temperatures

One of the best ways to tell if we have a fever is by using a thermometer.  But not all thermometers are created equally.  Some are glass and go under the tongue or up your bum.  Others can go in your ear or under your armpit.  However, the most convenient of all is the forehead thermometer.  This handy little device measures the temperature from your forehead and never touches your skin.  You simply scan it across your forehead and the infrared technology picks up the heat being emitted and changes it into a digital reading.  Easy peasy! This thermometer is perfect for when the patient falls asleep so you can easily monitor the fever without waking them up.

Know for sure what your hypothalamus is trying to tell you with a fast, accurate forehead thermometer.  It's the technology of the future and will take the guess work out of your next cold or flu read more at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JWUTL6S.

Let's Go On a Picnic With Stainless Steel Food Jars

Picnicking is an awesome way to bond and enjoy the company of your family and friends.  But lets face it, not all picnic foods stay fresh or even travel that well.  Fresh fruit and veggies tend to dry out and get rubbery, while hot foods can get cold and inedible.  Let's explore the options of using our Stainless Steel Food Jars at http://gingerhillcreations.com/thergee-food-jar/ over plasticware and zipper baggies.- your food options just opened up!

Plastic on a Picnic

We have all used plastic containers to try and keep food fresh longer.  Some are okay at doing this task while others completely fall short. When it comes to packing food for a picnic, the last thing you want is a pile of plastic filled with inedible food.  Not to mention, there is no way these types of containers are keeping your homemade food hot or cold.  With our Insulated Food Jars your picnic fare will remain the same way you packed it - fresh and fabulous!

Imagine serving up soups, stews, chili, casseroles or leftovers from last nights chicken or pot roast.  These may not sound like the perfect picnic foods, but with our Stainless Steel Food containers you are only limited by what is in your refrigerator.  Our jars keep hots hot for up to 5 hours and chilled foods cold for up to 7 hours - plenty of time to enjoy a picnic at the park or on the beach.  Plus, our jars have a wide-mouth for easy filling, eating and cleaning.

Plastic Baggies on a Picnic

I must admit, the zipper baggies did revolutionize the way we pack some food.  They are handy, but the food inside of them doesn't always travel well.  Crackers and cookies can crumble on impact, fresh produce can turn brown and soggy and unless you pack a sandwich flat with nothing around it, it will most likely become flattened and inedible.

Our Stainless Steel Food Jars are the perfect alternative to plastic zip bags.  The food stays intact and fresh and can travel anywhere, anytime in any conditions.  In addition, by using our food jars you are reducing the waste you will create - our jars don't need to go through a costly recycling process and are totally reusable.  That is both cost effect and environmentally friendly!

Picnic Yummies

Packing a picnic lunch has never been more fun when you have our Stainless Steel Food Jars.  With these you can bypass the normal sandwiches and pack a hot (or cold) wholesome lunch.  Try mac n' cheese, soups, salads, fresh produce, fruit smoothies and health drinks or any other hot or cold food you want to dine on.  Plus, you don't have to pack any extra picnicware when you can eat directly from these food jars.  With less things to carry you can hike into more remote areas and dine wherever you please.

Stop wasting money and time with food packed into plastic and zipper bags, when your picnic can turn into a fine dining experience with Stainless Steel Food Jars grab yours now at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IPRGHHK.

Back Seat Mirror Saves the Day

When you become a parent it changes everything. Not only do you bring another life into the world, but you are responsible for the well-being and safety of that little life. This can be overwhelming, but in today’s world with today’s technology, we do have companies making products to help us keep our kids safe. One on the most ingenious inventions of our time is the Back Seat Mirror. Read on to discover why this simple, yet effective product may save the day in your car.

Picture This…

Imagine you put your baby in her back facing car seat. You buckle her in, make sure everything is secure, then get in the driver’s seat and go. Now imagine you are driving along and your precious angel begins to cry, cough and choke - this can be a scary situation for new moms or even practised-parents, but worse when you are in the midst of traffic. Of course, the first thing you want to do is to get back to your child as soon as possible, but it’s not always easy to find a place to pull over. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a way to monitor what is going on behind you at all times? This is where the back seat mirror comes into play.

A Second Set of Eyes

Having a Back Seat Mirror is like having a second set of eyes. This handy tool easily installs onto the headrest and works on a swivel so you can adjust it accordingly - it should be placed where you can see your child’s car seat from your rearview mirror. Once in place you will always know what baby is doing. And in the case of our coughing, crying, choking infant, you will have the ability to gauge the situation without turning around in your seat, or making (potentially) panicked errors in your driving judgement read more at http://gingerhillcreations.com/gingerkids-backseat-mirror.

Made-to-Last

Another great feature about the Back Seat Mirror is it is made from durable, non-breakable glass, so you won’t have to worry about it shattering if you drop it. In addition, the heavy duty straps are designed to hold tight even on bumpy roads or after continuous uses. And don’t worry about the Back Seat Mirror looking unstylish, this awesome safety-feature not only looks great, but it will give you peace-of-mind you crave each time you take your child out in the car.http://gingerhillcreations.com/gingerkids-backseat-mirror

Don’t spend another minute stressing over what your baby is up to in his/her rear facing car seat, grab a back seat mirror at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KQ6LKVG and relax knowing that no matter what happens you have the ability to keep an eye on your precious cargo.

TPE Baby Bibs ~ The Best Thing Since Disposable Diapers!

I know some parents are still reluctant to use disposable diapers, but you can't deny that they do make cleaning baby a whole lot easier, plus they really cut down on the laundry and the mess of it all. I feel the same way about my new TPE (scientists call it Thermoplastic)  Baby Bibs.  They have virtually revolutionized the way we keep our toddlers clean and happy while they are learning to eat.

Unlike normal cloth bibs, these TPE wonders are soft and pliable and fit the entire length of your child's body.  In addition, there is a deep pocket to catch all those drips and crumbs.  Talk about a floor and clothes saver - I'm not sure you could pay me enough to go back to those old-style, stained and ineffective cloth bibs!  Check out what other cool features these bibs have to offer.

No Harmful Materials

I think, perhaps, the biggest reason why parents may not want to use a non-cloth item near their baby is because of all the talk about harmful toxins finding their way into some baby products.  I totally agree and would NEVER want to use something that is potentially harmful to my children.  However, these Silicone Baby Bibs are not only made from 100 percent all-natural materials. they also DO NOT CONTAIN ANY BPA, LEAD, LATEX, PHTHALATE OR PVC!  Plus, they have been tested by the FDA and the LFGB.  This should give you peace-of-mind knowing even if your toddler chews on this pliable bib, they won't be ingesting anything bad for them.

Perfect For…

I left this open ended because there are so many places you will find to use your Silicone Bibs, that a package of three will not be enough.  These bibs are ready-to-travel because they are soft enough to roll up and tuck anywhere; diaper bags, backpacks, purses, glove compartments, the list goes on.  I have used these bibs to keep my leather seats clean in my car when I need to give my child a sippy cup or a quick snack.  I have used them at restaurants to keep my toddler looking presentable through the entire meal.  I have taken them to the park so we can enjoy a nice picnic and have even left one at my babysitters and my parent's home.  The ease and convenience of this Silicone Baby Bib is too good not to share with those around you.

In addition, these Silicone Baby Bibs make great gifts for new parents and even for a toddler's first birthday.  They are perfectly cute and so time-saving, your friends and family members with beginner-eaters will thank you each time they are saved a lot of time with messy clean-ups and spills.

Take it from me, these TPE Baby Bibs are a must-have for any parent or caregiver of small children.  They aren't only soft and safe, but you will never have to deal with the hassles of traditional cloth bibs again get more information at http://gingerhillcreations.com/gingerkids-baby-bibs/.

How To Parent Without Losing Your Mind

Parents & child; with cheese by slightlywinded, on Flickr
It is not easy to be a parent. You must find the right techniques at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KQ6LKVG that work for your child, and learn as many parenting skills as possible. The greater your knowledge about child development and methods of handling situations as they arise, the more effective your parenting will be.

You do not necessarily need to spend a fortune on a nursery for your little one. You can buy high-quality versions of these sorts of items at department stores. Friends and family members may be willing to donate items that are no longer being used.

As a parent, possibly the most important thing you can do for your children is provide them with a moral compass. This doesn't necessarily mean you need to instill a particular set of religious values, but make sure they have a clear sense of right and wrong. Children with a solid moral grounding are more likely to grow into adults you can be proud of.

Use clothes or items from the mother to wrap a bottle in if the baby is having trouble getting used to drinking from it. The smell of mom in the clothing will help calm the baby because he will associate it with his mother, thus making him more likely to give it a try.

It is important to establish realistic, achievable goals for your teenager. If your teen has a hard time with math, be sure to work with your teen to overcome obstacles and to establish goals that are reasonable. If you set goals that are not realistic, the teen will become frustrated and not work at all.

If you cannot seem to get your child to take his medicine when he is sick, try adding the medicine to a spoonful of chocolate syrup. It will be like they are eating a bit of candy instead of the medicine that will make them feel better. Everyone will feel better.

It is important that you raise your children to have self confidence. By not doing so, you are increasing the chances of your child turning into a teenager or adult who is depressed. Always make sure to make them feel good about themselves by giving them compliments. Also, praise them when they have done something good.

Allow a child to start showing independence at an early age. When they are old enough to put away their own toys and clear their own plates from the table then let them. They will never learn the importance of doing things on their own if you do everything for them.

In order to teach you child how to have good behavior you have to show them by example or red more at http://gingerhillcreations.com/gingerkids-backseat-mirror/. You cannot tell your child to act a certain way and then you go and do the opposite right in front of them. Act the way that you want them to act.

The goal is that you can become a more effective parent by utilizing the tools and tips from this article. No parent will have all of the answers, though all you need is access to all of the resources that do.

Lead Your Family The Right Way With These Parenting Tips

La famiglia! by Matteo Bagnoli, on Flickr
Child rearing may be one of the toughest challenges any person will have to go through. These tips will help you develop better parenting skills and feel more confident about your role as a parent. It is possible for you to be the great parent that you want to be.

When you have a newborn in the house, be sure to split the parenting responsibilities between both Mom and Dad. Splitting up the responsibilities will keep both parents from becoming exhausted, and give each parent a little alone time once in awhile. It will also help to allow each parent to get some much needed sleep, especially through the night.

Make time to play with your children every single day. Playtime helps get you and your children moving, which benefits your health. Playing also encourages creativity, social interaction, imagination, and good self-esteem. Active play is better than passive, so take your kids to the park or even just the yard and let loose your inner child.

Don't be afraid to take some time out of the day for yourself. Being a parent is a stressful job. Children are very sensitive to the moods and attitudes of their parents, and if you become irritable or unhappy, they will also become unhappy. Happy children start with a happy parent.

Learn this trick for the best way to release the baby from the breast. When he is done eating on one side, take your pinkie and bring it in between your breast and the baby's gums. This will release the suction allowing you to take him off the breast. Whatever you do, don't try to pull him off, it will hurt.

If you want to facilitate good study habits, make sure your child has a full belly. A child needs energy to study effectively. It will prevent them from becoming over tired and keep their brain working. A small snack, like an apple or some peanut butter crackers, can do wonders during study time.

Start focusing on nutrition very early in the child's life. If you are able to convince them that they like healthy foods you can help them to avoid many of the health traps that the majority of adults suffer. You don't need to deprive them of treats, but show them healthy tasty treats.

If you cannot seem to get your child to take his medicine when he is sick, try adding the medicine to a spoonful of chocolate syrup. It will be like they are eating a bit of candy instead of the medicine that will make them feel better and used a handy tools that can be great help in taking care of your baby visit at http://gingerhillcreations.com/thermee/ or you can directly visit their amazon page at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JWUTL6S  to get yours and read more details as well. Everyone will feel better.

Use your phone as a way to sooth your baby when you are out and about. Download a white-noise ambient into your phone. You can then place your phone in your little one's car seat or stroller. The many sounds that this app provides will sooth your baby for a long time.

Without the proper advice, improving your parenting skills may be hard. Try applying the tips from this article and see how your child reacts. With time, you should gain confidence and know right away what is best. It is a huge challenge, but a really important one. You know you can make it!

Parenting Advice You Must Read To Believe

cantinieri by Matteo Bagnoli, on FlickrIf you're a first time parent, or have a child on the way, you might not be sure how best to raise your child. This article will help with some basic parenting advice to help you get through the tough spots and help your child become an adult you can be proud of.

Taking some time to pursue your own interests shows your children that different people have different interests, and talents. This will allow you to keep you own identity along with the role of a parent.

Have someone besides mom introduce the baby to a bottle if needed. A baby who is being breastfeed will be less likely to take a bottle from the mother as they want what they are used to. The process will go much smoother if a dad or other caregiver gets the baby used to a bottle.

Consider teaching a young toddler or older infant signing. Even if you don't use special "baby sign", toddlers will have an easier time communicating with their hands than with their words. This is an especially useful technique if you have a toddler with a language delay, as it provides them with a channel for communication.

Although most medication labeling states dosages according to age in years, you should consult your pediatrician if your child falls within those age ranges but is significantly heavier or lighter than other kids his or her age. Children metabolize certain medications much differently than adults, and dosing based on weight is more likely to deliver a therapeutic amount of the active ingredient.

If your child becomes upset while traveling in the car, try giving them a magnetic toy to play with. Use a cookie sheet or cake pan and put a variety of magnetic toys on it. This should keep your child entertained even if you have to stop at a light or slow down for traffic.

When birthdays or other gift giving holidays come around, instead of taking your child shopping, help them make a present check it out at http://gingerhillcreations.com/thergee-food-jar/. Not only will your child get to be creative and give a unique gift, but you'll get to spend quality time together. This is especially good if the present is for the child's other parent or another relative.

Stick to a flexible routine and schedule. Try to plan meals at about the same time each day. The same is true for nap time and bed time. Children respond well to a routine. Their bodies physically adapt to it, and their time clock will, in time, automatically respond to it.

Your marriage is just as important as your children, so take good care of it. You need time together as a couple to ensure that you keep the passion alive, so make sure to have a date night once a week where it's just you and your spouse. The kids will be there when you get home!

Child rearing can be challenging, but if you keep in mind the advice you've read, you will be giving your child a great foundation. Stick in there through the rough spots and remember that children act out sometimes, but if you continue to use proper parenting techniques at  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IPRGHHK, they will grow up to be successful, happy adults.

Stop Struggling As A Parent With These Tips

Parenting is one of the most important tasks we can ever undertake in life. Through effective parenting we lead our child from infancy to adulthood. Our goal, of course, is to equip them to eventually enter the world of adulthood as responsible and productive human beings. We accomplish this by example that you see on this link http://gingerhillcreations.com/gingerkids-baby-bibs/.

When breastfeeding, do not try to feed the baby on a strict schedule. Letting the baby eat when he is hungry will allow your supply and the baby's hunger to develop as needed. If you try to feed him at a set time, he will not suck as hard and your body will not respond with letting down your milk. Your baby knows when he is hungry so follow his cues.

For children who have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep, it is advised that you do not allow them to nap. Napping will make them less tired when it comes to bedtime. Instead, let them go to sleep at an early hour even if it means that they will wake up earlier.

If your child has been making frequent trips to the school nurse, only to be sent back because there is no apparent illness, he or she may be trying to avoid a classroom bully. Ask your child if he or she is having problems with a classmate; you can also directly contact your child's teacher to determine whether there may be a troublesome conflict between another student and your child.

A great parenting tip is to not always let your child get what they want. If you let your child get what they want all the time, they'll go through life thinking they'll never have to hear the word "no". Be reasonable with your child and tell them "no" when you need to.

If your child becomes upset while traveling in the car, try giving them a magnetic toy to play with. Use a cookie sheet or cake pan and put a variety of magnetic toys on it. This should keep your child entertained even if you have to stop at a light or slow down for traffic.

A great parenting tip is to show your all of your children the same amount of love and affection. If you play favoritism with your children, they will grow up to resent you, and they probably won't get along with each other. You should love all your kids the same.

When you find yourself torn between spending time with your child and keeping the house immaculate, let the chores go to some extent. Your kids will remember fun times and making happy memories with you, but they will not remember that the kitchen wasn't spotless or that you didn't vacuum daily.

In conclusion, our children learn to be productive well-adjusted adults by following our lead. We show them responsibility by being responsible ourselves. We demonstrate the importance of love and nurturing by providing it to them. They learn because we teach. The tips provided above or in this link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IPQVPG4 help us be the teachers we need to be.

Useful Tips For Improving Your Parenting Skills

Raising a child is hard work, and no amount of advice or preparation can change that. Preparation and knowledge can have an effect, though, on the results that hard parenting work brings. A helpful tip at the right time can make the parenting process much easier. Continue reading to get a few tips at http://gingerhillcreations.com/gingerkids-backseat-mirror/ that might solve some child-rearing problems.

Use a pump or hand express milk if you are engorged and the baby is not ready to eat when breastfeeding. There are few things more painful to a new mother than having produced too much milk and not having a way to release it. Our bodies gradually start to produce only what is needed for the baby but it takes a little while to regulate. By expressing some of the milk you can reduce the pain until baby's next meal.

Transitions are hard on preschoolers. Quickly changing from one activity to the next can cause stress and may result in a temper tantrum.

Have fun together as a family. Take a bike ride, go on vacation, visit the beach or take in a movie. Just spending time together doing what you love is the key. Your children will have wonderful memories from their childhood. And you will have more fun with your children.

It is important that you properly discipline your toddler when they bite you or someone else. Letting them get away with biting will just make them think it is okay. To show your toddler that you mean business, firmly tell them they cannot bite or take away their favorite toy.

If you have multiple children, keeping up with all of their prescriptions can be quite a challenge. Walgreens and other chain pharmacies offer iPhone and smart phone apps that allow you to scan the bar code on your child's prescription medication and access information on fill dates, directions and refill status.

If your child must take a maintenance medication on a daily basis, you should always check the pharmacy label and directions, upon picking up each refill. It is not uncommon for physicians or nurses to increase or adjust the dosages as your child's age and weight increase. Reviewing the instructions at the time you pick up the medication is your best bet and can save your child from health risks.

If your toddler is having a tantrum, one of the most effective ways to get them to calm down is to minimize other noise and activity. Do not try to pick up your child; use a little table or chair and a blanket to make a small tent that he can go under. Give him a familiar object and let him relax.

Despite the fact that parenting is a common thread through many lives, the parenting process does not come naturally to most folks. Researching through the internet, books and word of mouth or on this link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KQ6LKVG is a great way to learn the parenting process. You never know what to expect from your kids, so being prepared is always wise. No matter what its source is, useful parenting advice is likely to be appreciated by almost any parent.

Parenting Tips For Parents On The Go

18 dicembre 2010 by Matteo Bagnoli, on Flickr
You always try to be the best parent you can be but sometimes still feel like you fall short! Do not despair, every parent feels this way at some point! Use the tips below or in this link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JWUTL6S to learn how to become a better parent and have a stronger sense of communication and effective, fair discipline.

Place retro-reflective material on all children who go to school in order to make their backpack and clothing stand out. This material is also available in Velcro strips that can be easily attached and detached. Your child will be visible to drivers in the darker early morning and late afternoon hours.

To make hair washing an easier process, pretend like your child is visiting a hair salon. Allow her to lay her head up to the sink and place a towel underneath her neck. Give your child a head massage while you are rinsing her hair. Engaging in imaginative play, will make this task fun for your child.

Look into the latest in baby monitors for your little one. You can program these new gadgets to call your smart phone whenever there is any kind of noise in your baby's room. It is a great way to get a bit of work done while you baby naps, and get the alert that your baby wants you when she wakes.

Make sure you have your child's password for any social media sites so you can easily monitor on-line activities. Whether you ever log on to their account or not, knowing you can encourages your child to be more responsible with the information or photographs shared and their interactions with others.

Get your little one involved in meal preparation as soon as they are able to handle specific tasks with assistance and supervision. For example, having a toddler help pour ingredients into a bowl can teach basic measurement while allowing you to finish preparing a meal. Just be sure to supervise closely and keep your child away from any dangerous appliances or utensils.

One of the biggest problems parents have with their children these days is getting them away from the computer, television, and video games. One solution to this is to show them how much fun reading and other activities can be. A great way to go about doing this is to take them to story time events at libraries and bookstores. Here, they might learn to enjoy reading by listening to interesting stories, and interacting with other children at the same time.

Children learn fears based off their parents reactions to certain things or situations. Children tend to look to their parents for cues as how they should react to certain circumstances. If you show your toddler that you are afraid of ants on the sidewalk, don't be surprised if your little one develops a fear of bugs. Keep mindful of your reactions to daily situations if your little one is with you.

Your child probably is not meaning to frustrate or disobey you. In fact, he or she may be breaking rules in order to draw your attention to a bigger issue. Use the tips above or on this link http://gingerhillcreations.com/thermee/ to recognize how you and your child communicate so you can improve it for both of you!
